Unscripted Varanasi Photography Workshop

Join me for an immersive street photography workshop in Varanasi, the spiritual and cultural heart of India known for its timeless river ghats, intricate narrow lanes and vibrant street life, Varanasi offers an unparalleled canvas for candid photography.
This workshop is designed for photographers who want to capture the raw, unscripted moments of everyday life, from the rituals on the river ghats to the daily life activities and intimate alleyways. Participants will receive on-spot field guidance, learning how to anticipate moments, work with natural light, and approach subjects respectfully in a candid setting.
We will have photo review, discussion and feedback sessions, ensuring that you not only make striking images but also refine your storytelling skills. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, this workshop will deepen your ability to see, connect, and create authentic visual narratives.


Itinerary :
30th January 2026 (Day 1)
By 12:00 PM – Reach Varanasi and check-in at the pre-booked hotel.
01:00 PM – Lunch, followed by introduction & orientation session with participants.
04:00 PM – Evening photo walk at the river ghats, capturing the atmosphere and street life.
06:00 PM onwards – Document the Ganga aarti ceremony, a spectacle of lights, chants, and devotion.
Dinner at the hotel.


31st January 2026 (Day 2)
05:00 AM – Early morning photo walk to capture sunrise activities at the ghats: bathing rituals, prayers, and vibrant street life.
09:00 AM – Return to hotel for breakfast.
11:00 AM – 01:00 PM – Photo review and discussion session.
03:30 PM – Afternoon photo walk starting from Manikarnika Ghat (cremation ground), exploring rituals and candid moments.
06:00 PM onwards – Shoot Ganga Aarti again from a new perspective.
09:00 PM – Dinner, followed by a short review & group discussion session.


1st February 2026 (Day 3)
05:30 AM – Sunrise photography of Varanasi ghats from a boat ride.
Visit a kushti akhara (traditional wrestling ground) for powerful action shots.
09:30 AM – Breakfast at the hotel.
10:30 AM – 11:30 AM – Final photo review session & wrap-up.
12:00 PM – Check-out and end of workshop.

Important Notes :
Expect 7–8 km of walking daily on flat terrain.
Be prepared for early morning shoots.
Shooting schedule might change depending on situation.
The workshop is open to all photography enthusiasts – from beginners to professionals. Everyone will receive personalized attention, so no one feels left out.
Spouse/friend of a participant may also join, upon payment of the full workshop fee.
Unscripted Varanasi & Kolkata (Extended Street Photography Workshop )
Dates: 30th January – 4th February 2026 ( 6 days and 5 nights )

After immersing yourself in the soulful atmosphere of Varanasi, extend your journey to the bustling streets of Kolkata, often called the cultural capital of India. This combined workshop offers participants the rare chance to experience two of India’s most iconic cities, often called street photography paradise —each with its own pace, colors and stories.
Kolkata is a city where tradition and modernity coexist seamlessly, making it a paradise for street photographers. From its vibrant bazaars and colonial-era architecture to its soulful riverbanks and timeless neighbourhoods, every corner holds a visual story. The workshop is designed to help you capture Kolkata’s unique character—its people, culture, and rhythm of daily life.


Itinerary in Kolkata :
1st February 2026 ( Day 3) : Fly from Varanasi to Kolkata. Check-in to pre booked hotel at Kolkata
2nd and 3rd February, 2026 ( Day 4 and Day 5 ): We will cover the following locations
Malik Ghat Flower Market – Asia’s largest wholesale flower market, bursting with colors, chaos, and energy.
Kushti Akhara – Traditional wrestling grounds where strength and discipline meet heritage.
Ganga River Banks – Daily rituals, boatmen, and candid riverfront life.
Kumartuli – The potters’ colony where artisans handcraft clay idols of gods and goddesses.
College Street – The world’s largest second-hand book market, alive with students, sellers, and vibrant street life.
Old Lanes of Kolkata – Atmospheric alleys filled with textures, stories, and daily hustle.
Kolkata Maidan – The city’s green heart, where life unfolds through football matches, morning walks, and candid moments.
4th February ( Day 6 ) : After breakfast check-out and end of the program

- If you cancel your registration, then you will be refunded according to the following schedule, based on the full fee of the Workshop:
- 30 days or more: 50% of total workshop fee is refundable
